Pipeline & Event Assignment
Connecting contacts to pipelines and events is how you turn a list of names into an active sales process. This page explains how to assign contacts and what happens when you do.
Assigning a contact to a pipeline
There are several ways to add a contact to a pipeline:
- From the Contacts list — In the Pipeline & Stage cell, click Add Pipeline on a contact who is not on one yet, or Change pipeline on one who is. A modal lets you select the pipeline and the starting stage.
- From the Contact Detail page — Use Add to pipeline in the pipeline card in the first column. It is a card, not a header button.
- In bulk — Select contacts in the list and use Set Pipeline on the selection bar. See Bulk Actions.
- From the Pipeline board — Click “Add Contact” on the Kanban board to search for and add an existing contact to a stage.
What happens when you assign
When a contact is added to a pipeline, a pipeline item is created. This item contains:
- The stage the contact is currently in
- A monetary value (optional, for forecasting)
- An assigned team member
The contact appears as a card on the Kanban board, and any stage automations for the initial stage will trigger.
Notes about the deal are not a field on the card. They are notes like any other — a dated list rather than one box the next person overwrites, each keeping the name of whoever wrote it and its own date. Adding one saves on its own, without pressing Update on the item, and editing or deleting is limited to the person who wrote the note, plus owners and managers. The card on the board prints the newest note, with · 3 more beside it when there are others, and every note on the card also shows in the Notes card on the contact's detail page.
Assigning a contact to an event
Linking a contact to an event records that they are attending (or attended) that event. You can do this from:
- Contacts list — Click Add Event in the row's Event cell.
- Contact Detail — Click Add to event in the event card in the first column.
- In bulk — Select contacts in the list and use Add Event on the selection bar.
- Event Detail — Click Add Contact on the Contacts at this Event table, then Add Existing Contact to search for a contact and add them. See Event Attendance.
Changing a contact's company
The company lives on the chip in the contact detail header. Click the pencil beside it — Change company, or Add Company when the contact has none — to link a different company record. This updates the company association and the contact will appear under that company's detail page.
