Do Not Call, Text or Email

When someone asks you to stop calling, texting or emailing them, record it on their contact. Booked55 then stops suggesting that kind of outreach for them. US rules require a seller to keep and honour its own do-not-call requests, and the contact record is where that request belongs.

The three flags

A contact carries three flags. Each one records who set it and when.

FlagWhat Booked55 does
Do not callOpen call tasks for the contact are skipped. No new call tasks are suggested.
Do not textOpen text tasks for the contact are skipped. No new text tasks are suggested.
Do not emailNo new email tasks are suggested for the contact. The contact's email address is also added to the do-not-email list, so they get no Broadcast, newsletter or sequence email. Open email tasks are left as they are.

A skipped task carries the flag as its reason, so your task list says why it was never done. Automatic task generation, pipeline stage cadences and the Daily Tasks queue all respect the flags: none of them proposes a call or a text for a contact who said no to that channel. Other kinds of tasks — a meeting, a visit, a follow-up — are not affected.

A flagged contact shows each flag that is set on the line it concerns, so anyone opening the contact sees it before they pick up the phone: Do not email beside the email address, and Do not call, Do not text or Do not call or text beside every phone number. In the mobile app the button for a blocked channel is struck out as well, and tapping it opens the contact's preferences instead of starting the call, text or email.

On your tasks

You can still create a task by hand for a flagged contact, so the task lists mark those contacts too. On the website, a small red “do not” sign follows the contact's name on every task row; hover it to see which channels are blocked. When the row's own call, text or email button is for a blocked channel, it reads Do not call, Do not text or Do not email and cannot be clicked.

In the mobile app, the same sign follows the contact's name on the Today screen, and the row's call, text or email button is struck out. Tapping a struck-out button there, on a contact's task rows, in the contacts list or in a pipeline shows a message such as Jane asked not to be called. No call, text or email is started. Outside the contact's own screen the message also offers Open contact.

Setting a flag

On the website, open the contact and press Change beside Contact preferences in the Contact info card, then tick Do not call, Do not text or Do not email. In the mobile app, open the contact and tap Contact preferences under the email and phone rows, then switch the flag on. A change is saved as soon as you make it, and each flag that is set shows who set it and when.

Who can set and clear a flag

  • Setting a flag — anyone who can edit the contact.
  • Clearing a flag — an owner or manager only. This is the same rule as the do-not-email list: taking back a person's request is a decision for someone responsible for the organization.

CSV import

A CSV import can set the flags with three optional columns: do_not_call, do_not_text and do_not_email. Write yes, true or 1 to set a flag; leave the cell blank otherwise. A row with do_not_email set also puts the address on the do-not-email list, with the source Imported.

GoHighLevel

A contact imported from GoHighLevel with Do Not Disturb on arrives with all three flags set.
